Icom Portable Radio USB Programming Cable

Our innovative USB programming cable for Icom portable two-way radios and is a drop-in replacement for Icom OPC-478UC and OPC-478 (serial) cables. This cable is for use with various two way radios including IC-F2000 series.

Icom OPC-478 and OPC-478UC Alternative

The Icom OPC-478 is a serial cable that has a 9-pin serial connector and uses native RS-232 protocol and OPC-478UC is virtually the same cable but has a built-in USB to serial chip and a USB  connector on the end. This cable has a similar built-in USB-to-serial chip and will present itself as a COM-port in the Windows device manager which will be selectable in the software (software available separately).

Compatible Radios

This cable is a direct substitute for the OPC-478 and OPC-478UC and so is compatible with all of the same radios. You can check if this cable will be compatible by checking the audio-accessory socket on the side of your radio. If your Icom two-way radio has a 2-pin connector then this is the correct programming cable.

It's a common misconception that Icom programming cables have to be 2-pin because the accessory is 2-pin. This Icom programming cable has one single 3.5mm jack. But that's because it plugs into the larger of the two holes in the Icom radios' accessory connector. Only the 3.5mm jack socket is used for programming.
